Book excerpt: Some wives have wondered why their husbands won¿t listen to them. And some have resigned to themselves that he never will. Maybe with some understanding there is hope:¿ A husband tends to use only half of his brain while listening; a wife tends to use both sides of her brain. ¿ Men tend not to be emotional. They also tend not to talk as much as a woman. So they don¿t provide women with the kind of feedback that they desire. ¿ There is a tendency in some people to resist while listening to others. ¿ The Bible exhorts husbands to love their wives and dwell with them with understanding. There are also examples of husbands who listened to their wives for their benefit or their own peril. Using real-life and personal examples, a famous model of communication, and Bible references, popular Internet talk show host S.B. Redd offers a practical approach to improving marriage by encouraging husbands to listen to their wives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most "relationship books" are written for women, but women aren't the only ones who want happy, enduring marriages. Bringing Out the Best in Your Wife is written with men in mind, men who want to build satisfying relationships but just aren't sure how. The secret, Dr. H. Norman Wright reveals, is mutual affirmation. But first, husbands have to understand that women receive respect and encouragement differently than men. When husbands discover how to speak the language of love their wives understand, relationships are taken to a whole new level. Dr. Wright lays out biblical and practical ways husbands can bring out the best in their wives. Readers will find firsthand testimonies from men just like them, who share the daily frustrations of living with a person so different from themselves. They may also be surprised by what they learn about women from the personal stories told by wives striving to make their marriages work. Each step toward a healthy, satisfying relationship is presented with a real-life situation that men will find immediately familiar. And as readers take each successive step, they will see the positive impact that encouragement, prayer, romance, and inspiration have on the marriage they've always wanted.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a young mum, the most frustrating thing that I had to deal with was reading books that told me to do this or that and my children would grow up into real, well adjusted adults. The trouble was, when I tried any of these things, my children reacted very differently to what books said would happen. I declared that I would never give advice until my grandchildren told me I had done a good job, and even then I would be very reluctant. When we become Christians, God changes us in much the same way that He turned the water in wine at the wedding at Cana. The improvement of us, however, takes a lifetime. This book shares some of the ways that God worked that improvement in my life. If there is one thing that God has taught me, it is that we are all made as individuals in His image and He will teach all of us differently. He does, however, expect all of us to share His blessings with whoever we can. I was challenged by my minister in June 2011 to start writing these short stories for the church notice sheet. The result was this collection. As I look back, I am surprised to see just what God had done. I hope by sharing how God has used many of the circumstances in my life to teach me what He wanted me to learn, that I can be an encouragement to others. Please enjoy my journey.
