Book excerpt: For fans of When You Trap a Tiger and A Place to Belong comes a gentle middle grade novel about love and resilience, interwoven with Chinese mythology, a Little World made completely of paper, and the ever changing, but constant moon. The night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, making mooncakes with Ah-Ma, was the last time Peijing Guo remembers her life being the same. She is haunted by the magical image of a whole egg yolk suspended in the middle like the full moon. Now adapting to their new life in Australia, Peijing thinks everything is going to turn out okay as long as they all have each other, but cracks are starting to appear in the family. Five-year-old Biju, lovable but annoying, needs Peijing to be the dependable big sister. Ah-Ma keeps forgetting who she is; Ma Ma is no longer herself and Ba Ba must adjust to a new role as a hands-on dad. Peijing has no idea how she is supposed to cope with the uncertainties of her own world while shouldering the burden of everyone else. If her family are the four quarters of the mooncake, where does she even fit in?

Download or read book My Pal Blaise written by Richard Leviton and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 517 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2020 angels of a high order started incarnating on Earth as humans. In early 2020 guards at Teotihuacan, an archeological site in Mexico, find eight fat handwritten notebooks on a ledge at the Palace of the Jaguars. They purport to be the journal, and maybe last testament, of an American, age 69, hiding out in the high desert of New Mexico and on the run from intelligence agencies. He sums up his life spent with a most unusual colleague named Blaise. The journal entries span seven months in 2019 then end as 2020 begins, but they cover the history of the Earth. Offered in a matter-of-fact manner, the writer's revelations grow increasingly alarming and hard to credit. Wormholes on the Earth. Pleiadian influence in human evolution. Hyperdimensional Light grids. Clairvoyant scientists. Shapeshifting Ascended Masters. Accounts of planetwide psychic access. An apparitional theater of mythic figures. Angels 60 billion years old on the verge of human incarnation. Yet the journals, written with warmth, fondness, and amusement, read like the memoir of truly one man's best friend, Blaise yet this Blaise is too big, too old, too vast to be a human. What then? And who wrote the journals? He seems untraceable. In 2023 the notebooks passed to Dartmouth College professor Frederick Graham Atkinson, Ph.D., who, starting in 2025, prepared them for publication, adding helpful editorial notes. The journals, though never intended for publication by their author and it's a miracle they survived the desert and years in a dusty unused office, Dr. Atkinson states, offer an unusual, often inspiring, and mostly astonishing report of the inner affairs of planet, culture, myth, humanity, the spiritual world, and where it's all heading.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Creative and brave sixth grader Andy Zhou faces big changes at school and at home in this new novel by the award-winning author of See You in the Cosmos. Andy Zhou is used to being what people need him to be: the good kid for his parents and now grandparents visiting from Shanghai, or the helpful sidekick to his best friend Cindy’s rebellious plans and schemes. So when Cindy decides they should try out for Movement at school on the first day of sixth grade, how can Andy say no? But between feeling out of place with the dancers, being hassled by his new science partner Jameel, and sensing tension between his dad and grandfather, Andy feels all kinds of weird. Then, over anime, Hi-Chews, and Andy’s iguana-inspired artwork, things shift between him and Jameel, opening up new doors—and also new complications. No matter how much Andy cares about his friends and family, it’s hard not to feel pulled between all the ways he's meant to be, all the different faces he wears, and harder still to figure out if any of these masks is the real him.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of David Bentley Hart’s critically acclaimed New Testament translation David Bentley Hart’s translation of the New Testament, first published in 2017, was hailed as a “remarkable feat” and as a “strange, disconcerting, radical version of a strange, disconcerting manifesto of profoundly radical values.” In this second edition, which includes a powerful new preface and more than a thousand changes to the text, Hart’s purpose remains the same: to render the original Greek texts faithfully, free of doctrine and theology, awakening readers to the uncanniness that often lies hidden beneath doctrinal layers. Through his startling translation, with its raw, unfinished quality, Hart reveals a world conceptually quite unlike our own. “It was a world,” he writes, “in which the heavens above were occupied by celestial spiritual potentates of questionable character, in which angels ruled the nations of the earth as local gods, in which demons prowled the empty places, . . . and in which the entire cosmos was for many an eternal divine order and for many others a darkened prison house.” He challenges readers to imagine it anew: a God who reigned on high, appearing in the form of a slave and dying as a criminal, only then to be raised up and revealed as the Lord of all things.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has long been a need for a translation of the Judaeo-Christian Bible that did not deliberately mistranslate certain words and sentences for the purpose of concealing that the biblical authors' beliefs were quite different from those of modern Jews, Christians and Muslims. For example, "The LORD" is a falsification of the proper name Yahweh, a god like Zeus or Jupiter. But the most blatant fraud has been the rendering of the Hebrew word allahiym as the male proper name, "God." Allahiym is neither a proper name nor singular nor unisexual. Al means a god. The suffix -ah is a feminine singular inflection, so that allah means "goddess." The suffix -iym is a masculine plural inflection, making allahiym a dual-sex, generic plural, "male and female gods," or, in the common gender, "gods." This translation corrects such falsifications.
